Spray Paint Palooza

This past weekend we decided to have some fun and by creating some new cards. The business logistics of the biz has been bogging us down, so what better way to get out of our funk than with spray paint? I don't want to reveal too much about our new line (since we hope to post these on Etsy soon) but here is a little teaser of our process. We will give a shout out when the cards are ready to buy on Etsy.

Fun at the Flea Market

This past Saturday we went to Scott's flea market near the airport. Sorry for the crappy picture posted above. It doesn't even begin to explain how large this market is. I swear, it's like a football field or larger full of vendors that sell anything from furniture, to old books, to antique jewelry to weird knick-knacks you'd never seen before. The whole goal was to find a table for our letterpress. But by the time we got there, most of the vendors were packing up for the day. Maybe b/c it was Mother's Day? Regardless, here are some pictures of the stuff we found. I think Jen has more pictures to post as well.

Deer heads? What the heck?

Bins of odds and ends.

I almost felt sacrilegious checking out these windows that
looked like they were looted from a church.

This was super cool grain and seed bin. Wonder how
old the contents were?

Inspiration Monday: Wreath-united and It Feels So good

So, we've always been a fan of the books-as-art movement. It's reusing and innovating, all at once. When Anthropologie did it for their in-store displays, we swooned. As seen here in CasaSugar...

When Urban did it, we voted Hot on Apartment Therapy...

And, as posted on today's Apartment Therapy, this fun paper project from Rag and Bone Bindery.

But the one we like best? This amazing installation from CraftStylish...

Can you say yummy?

Much paper goodness, all around.

KF Designs on Daily Candy (again!)

Our talented and lovely friend, Kristen Fountain-Davis, was featured in Daily Candy again for her beautiful jewelry. We showcased it about a week ago on our blog. (Hope everyone went to her site to buy it all up!) Well, this past week she also made it big on Design Sponge with her super cute pink bar that she renovated. It looked so festive for Cinco de Mayo.

Check out Daily Candy, Design Sponge and of course, her website to buy some fun jewelry!

Great Paper Find

I love it when great finds come out of nowhere. In a rush to find a mother's/mother-in-law's day gift, I stumbled across a bittersweet deal. One of my fave stops in the Va. Highlands, the independently owned shop, Eco Bella, is going out of business. Boo, hiss! As a recently new aunt to twins, this shop was great for cute organic kids' clothes and other eco-friendly goodies, but, alas, no more.

In light of tragedy, though, there is consolation. Not only is the manager off to play in France for a well-deserved vacation, I was able to find some great close-out deals, including these great poster paint swatches for Yolo Colorhouse paints...

She even threw in the bin!

I'm not quite sure what we'll do with them (or the bright red lipstick that made it into my purchase pile), but the colors are so rich and elegant, I'm sure we'll come up with something. We're crafty like that...

Farewell on kfd designs!

You've seen our friend and fellow blogger, Kristen of k.f.d. designs on Paper Relish before. Well, today she gave us a yummy mention. Check it out!

We're honored to be in the company of such stellar artistic projects and jewelry designs like k.f.d.'s...

Kristin's Guilded Rock project, super cute!

Wouldn't you die to grow up in a room with a fabu mural like this recent interior decorative painting job? What a lucky little client...

And, of course, you can't forget Kristin's beautiful jewelry. Anyone in need of a good mother's day gift idea?

Thanks, k.f.d. designs!

Inspiration Monday: Fashion that looks good on paper

*It's our first (official, at least) inspiration post! Seems like Mondays are the most uninspired days, but it's also our best chance to hit up some of the awesomeness we've taken in over the weekend. Here goes...

This Inspiration Monday is all about fashion. Summer's well on its way, and we've noticed the girls donning some super cute dresses and tops already this year. Sure, you say, dresses are fun and all, but what does have to do with yummy paper goodness? Well, our twisted paper minds can find inspiration in anything. And, apparently, so can the fashion gods. Check out some of this year's hottest trends on the runway as seen on Style.com. Would we be able to pull them off down Peachtree Street? Probably not. Would they make for some chic notecard designs? No doubt.

Love the overlapping zigzags on this top by Andy & Deb. The see through quality's making me think in velum, but it could also be pretty in a white linen paper.

This 3-D masterpiece by Christopher Kane would be an ambitious paper cutting endeavor indeed, but we love how the half circles look like flower petals. And we love the color palette!

Miu Miu always knows how to make a hot dress. Here's some creative pleating that also has a spraypaint flare that reminds us of a particular look we're trying out on a new collection of our own (stay tuned)...

Most times, we're on the fence on fringe, but if we're talking paper, this metallic lovely by Aquilano.Rimondi is inviting us to a party we want to go to.

Okay, so this number by Viktor & Rolf is more for Judy Jetson than for us, but you have to appreciate the amazing lines and use of color. Call me Nina Garcia, but I have to say this one has a "very strong point of view," fashionwise and paperwise. I'm cutting my colorful strips of cardstock as we speak...

Be sure to go to Style.com for more of Spring 09's best trends.

Inspiration Mondays are as fun as we thought! Until next week...

We got the letterpress!

That lovely little red letterpress is our very own now! We heard from the seller around 5:30 pm, letting us know he will be shipping "red" to us soon! We cannot wait to use it. And of course we'll post about the beautiful things we create with it.

Letterpress Please!

It may not look like that much to you, (and to be honest, it kinda looks like a meat slicer or some weird bar stool) but this odd contraption could be our very own letterpress. I randomly decided to look up letterpresses for sale on Wednesday and came upon this cool site: http://www.briarpress.org/

This site has everything you could ever want when it comes to letterpressing and printing. That is where I found the little guy. We would love to get a larger press, but right now we really don't even have the room or money to rent out a space. So, cross your fingers, say a little prayer and hopefully "red" will be a part of the Farewell family soon.

We find out today if we won the bidding or not.
